Avram Freedberg—The Everlasting Entrepreneur
With over 40 years of entrepreneurship under his belt, Avram Freedberg has shown tremendous versatility and dedication to his many business ventures, marketing campaigns, and various charitable organizations. While some public figures are known for one particular cause, he is described as a “Jack of many Trades” for contributing his time, money, and effort in a variety of ways. From business and marketing to charities and the arts, Avram Freedberg has and will continue to make his mark as “The Everlasting Entrepreneur.”
Within the business arena, Avram Freedberg holds an impressive resume. As president of Maximum Entertainment Productions, LLC, and National Collector’s Mint, Inc., he proves he is no stranger to the nuances of business management. Through Maximum Entertainment, he produced a number of Broadway theater productions and made it possible for theatre tours to perform throughout the United States, Great Britain, and Japan. With National Collector’s Mint, he makes one of the largest online inventories of quality collector coins accessible to everyday collectors. While his development of these companies certainly credits his versatility, his ownership of the popular skin care collection, Biologic Solutions, dispels any doubt of Avram Freedberg and his diverse range of business knowledge.
Considering his vast business success, it is impressive that he has achieved comparable experience in marketing and sales. Through the use of direct-to-consumer product marketing for his companies, he has generated over $2 billion in revenue. He has employed a wide range of advertising methods, from nationwide newspaper and magazine inserts to television spots and infomercials. Mr. Freedberg also excels in collaborative ventures, since he has partnered with major companies like Sears, J.C. Penny, oil conglomerates, and bank credit cards to produce successful joint marketing campaigns.
Also a proponent of the creative arts and literature, this individual has devoted countless efforts to ensure their preservation in the community. As previously mentioned, he supports the theater and makes traveling productions possible through Maximum Entertainment. By publishing 12 different books he has contributed knowledge to the literary world, while his service on the Board of Directors of Connecticut Free Shakespeare has furthered public education of the famous playwright.
While he supports excellence in business and the arts alike, Avram Freedberg continually supports diversity in his hometown community of Stamford, Connecticut. As a man with Jewish heritage, he celebrates his roots on the board of the Jewish Family Service and for three years as a board member of Bi-Cultural Day School. He also served on the board of the Zahal Shalom Steering Committee and the Congregation Agudath Sholom. Last but not least, he served as Chairman of Stamford State of Israel Bonds.
Avram Freedberg: Giving Back Through Charitable Contributions
Avram Freedberg excels in numerous ways, but he does not forget to give back through education and philanthropy. Using his business resources, he has donated goods and samples to charity auctions for many non-profit organizations. Taking the sales profits he received through National Collector’s Mint 9/11 commemorative coins, he contributed over $2 million to many 9/11 related charities. These organizations include the following:
- A Journey for 9/11
- Flight 93 Memorial (Hearts of Steel)
- National Association of EMTs
- New York Presbyterian Hospital
- Putnam Engine and Horse Co., No. 2
- Scott Hazelcorn Children’s Foundation
- Todd Beamer Foundation
- Tuesday’s Children
- United Firefighters Widows and Children Association
- United Way’s September 11th Fund
- World Trade Center United Family Group
While each organization has slightly different services, they all stand united in their goal of aiding the victims and service people impacted by the tragic 9/11 terrorist attacks. Some offer physical rehabilitation and mental health treatment, while others help victims adapt and move forward with their lives. Job search forums and creative thinking groups are just a few examples of how organizations are reinstating the gift of independence. Last but not least, some charities are devoted to strengthening family ties and supporting the education and tolerance of our youth.
In order to provide more direct support to parents and their children, organizations like Tuesday’s Children host family engagement events. These events occur throughout the New York and Tri-state area and are meant to promote positive family member interaction and strengthen the family unit. Tuesday’s Children collaborates with other influential organizations to successfully conduct events, like the New York Islanders for ice hockey or the New York Knicks for basketball.
Other organizations solely focus on supporting the families of service men and women who responded on 9/11 and were disabled or killed in the line of duty. For those who can no longer work their previous post due to impairment, the charity groups help them obtain financial support from the government or various donations. During this time they can support their families and possibly receive training to pursue another career. For those still needing medical treatment, these organizations make sure they have access to their needs. These charities recognize that the sacrifices of our service people should receive grateful reward—not apathy.
While these charities support the victims of 9/11, some of them also create legacies out of their memory for the greater good. For instance, the parents of deceased victim Scott Hazelcorn honor their son through the Scott Hazelcorn Children’s Foundation. Remembering that Scott loved children and intended to become a teacher, his parents have made it their mission to provide aid to children in need who lost a loved one on 9/11. Camp Haze is one of the charity’s biggest events, and it is a one week all expense paid camping trip specifically designed for kids who have lost a parent to illness or tragedy. Through foundations like this one, legacies of victims can still live on to produce inspiring outcomes in other lives.
Adhering to this same mindset of positively impacting others, some of the 9/11 charities allow children and youth to give back to the community. Believing that volunteering will help victims heal, charities plan out various aid trips as one way to kick-start the process. Trips to rebuild towns damaged by Hurricane Katrina have already taken place, as well as trips to help children in impoverished foreign countries.
Ultimately, all of these various charities work to improve the victims’ quality of life. Thanks to generous donations from individuals like Avram Freedberg, these organizations can receive more support and make a stronger impact. Avram Freedberg is a highly successful entrepreneur, but he firmly believes in the importance of giving back.
